Baba Ramdev buys XUV700; Drives around in the new SUV [Video]

Industrialist and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev operates a conglomerate worth thousands of crores. Recently, he took delivery of a brand-new Mahindra XUV700. A video shows Ramdev driving around in the new car with his colleagues.

We have seen Baba Ramdev riding motorcycles in the past but this is the first time he was spotted driving a car. It looks like Ramdev tested the XUV700 inside the compound of a building. This is an old video, which has become viral on the Internet recently.

The exact variant details of the XUV700 driven by Baba Ramdev remain unknown but it looks like the top-end trim with a panoramic sunroof. While Baba Ramdev does not own any luxury cars, he has been spotted in a Jaguar XJ L and his close aide Balkrishna owns a Land Rover Range Rover.

Baba Ramdev has been an avid biker. He has been spotted riding a Hero Impulse and later was spotted with Sadhguru on the pillion seat of a Ducati Scrambler.

Even as Mahindra has introduced the all-new Scorpio-N, the waiting period of the XUV700, which came to the Indian market about one year ago has soared. Talking about the ground reality, different variants of the Mahindra XUV700 command different waiting periods. Starting with the base-spec MX variants, the waiting period given by the dealer outlets is three to four months for the petrol version and six months for the diesel version. For the MX variant, the XUV700 has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged 200 PS petrol engine and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder 155 PS diesel engine.

Then comes the manual and automatic AX5 variants, for which Mahindra takes six months to deliver the petrol automatic variants and up to eight months for the diesel automatic variants. For the range-topping AX7 variants, the XUV700 commands a waiting period of up to eight months for the petrol version and ten months for the diesel version. The AX range of variants is offered with the options of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged 200 PS petrol engine and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder 185 PS diesel engine.

The Mahindra XUV700 is on sale with both five-seater and seven-seater configurations. The five-seater version competes with SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector and Tata Harrier. On the other hand, the seven-seater version rivals the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar.

It looks like even the Scorpio-N is going in that direction. Customers who have already got the bookings for the new Scorpio-N are now selling the bookings in the grey market for a premium price.
