We have seen several ownership experienced of EV owners. Here we have another video where a Bajaj Chetak EV and Ather 450X electric scooter owner share their experience with the EVs.
The video has been uploaded by PluginIndia Electric Vehicles on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger talks to two brothers who own a Bajaj Chetak EV and Ather 450X. The Bajaj Chetak has done around 17,499 km and the Ather has done around 11,300 km. Before buying the electric scooter, they used to have a TVS Jupiter. The running cost came down drastically after they bought the electric scooter. The Bajaj Chetak EV owner starts talking about the benefits of buying the Chetak. He is very impressed with the build quality of the scooter.
He also likes the overall retro modern design which looks quite premium. Another good thing about the scooter is the headlamp. He felt that the headlight has a very good throw for a normal LED headlight setup. The seat height is low which makes sitting easier for pillion, especially for women. There is a dedicated footrest for women. He also mentions that the power delivery is quite linear and there are no vibrations.
Once he spoke about the positives, he starts talking about the things that could have been improved in the EV. The Chetak has a small boot and the seat is not very wide. The central tunnel which is part of the design of the scooter comes in the way if you want to carry anything in the footboard. He mentions that the telescopic suspension at the front would have offered a better handling to the scooter. It is not a scooter that one would like to ride at high speeds. The owner mentions that he has been using the Chetak for almost 1.5 years and till date he has saved around Rs 45,000.
Coming to Ather 450X, the owner mentions that this is a scooter that one can take to any terrain without worrying about anything. Ather is better handling scooter of the two and it also offers bigger under seat storage, large space on the foot board and also offers connected features, when compared to Chetak. The quality of the switches is not that great and the adjustment of the ORVMs are also quite difficult in the Ather. The seats are wider and are more comfortable. It is more sporty looking in terms of design. It also riders pretty well on both on and off-road conditions. The owner opted for quarterly maintenance subscription which has helped him save a lot of money. In terms of service, there is still a scope of improvement. As of now, both the brothers are happy with the overall experience.
