Deliveries will commence from December 2022 and test rides are now open at Kawasaki dealerships across India.

What is it?

Kawasaki W175 launched at Rs. 1.47 lakh: India’s most affordable Kawasaki motorcycle

The Kawasaki W175 is a retro motorcycle aimed at buyers who want a taste of high quality at an affordable price point. The motorcycle is powered by a 175cc, four stroke single cylinder air cooled engine that puts out 13 Bhp of peak power and 13.2 Nm of peak torque. A modern touch on the engine is fuel injection. The gearbox is a five speed item while an electric starter is standard.

Braking duties at the front are handled by a single disc brake while the rear wheel gets a drum brake. Telescopic front forks and gas charged rear shock absorbers handle suspension duties. The motorcycle is quite basic in terms of instrumentation with just a speedometer, odometer and the usual warning lights. A seat height of 790 mm will make it quite accessible even for shorter riders. The Kawasaki W175 weighs 135 kilograms.

Styling straight from the 80s

The Kawasaki W175 looks straight from the 1980s, and its styling is similar to the W800, a much bigger-engine parallel twin motorcycle that the brand also sells in India. While this styling may appeal to older riders who want something basic and reminiscent of what their dads or grand-dads would have ridden back in the day, it’s unlikely to get younger buyers.

Kawasaki offering discounts on W800 and Z650

Kawasaki W175 launched at Rs. 1.47 lakh: India’s most affordable Kawasaki motorcycle

Kawasaki is now offering discounts of up to Rs. 1 lakh on the W800 retro motorcycle. The discount is in the form of a ‘Good Times’ cash discount voucher. The Z650 parallel twin also gets a cash discount Rs. 25,000 while the Z650 RS gets a discount of Rs. 77,253 in the form of a Rs. 25,000 cash discount voucher and a Rs. 52,283 K-Care service package. While the W800 is powered by a 773cc, air-cooled, twin-cylinder engine with 47 Bhp-63 Nm, the Z650 and RS models get a 649cc, liquid cooled parallel twin that makes 67 Bhp-64 Nm. While the W800 uses a 5 speed manual gearbox, the Z650 and RS models come with a 6 speed gearbox. Both the Z650 and RS are much more modern motorcycles in terms of the features on offer. A liquid cooled engine, monoshock rear suspension, upside down front forks and a modern instrument cluster are some of the key modern bits on the Z 650 and RS models.
