Mahindra Scorpio hits Royal Enfield rider in a road rage case; Police identify driver

In a shocking incident, a video of a Mahindra Scorpio speeding through a group of motorcycle riders and hitting a Royal Enfield rider has become viral. The video is from the Delhi-Haryana border area near Arjan Garh metro station. An FIR against the Mahindra Scorpio driver has been registered.

Several videos of the incident show the Scorpio driver hitting the Royal Enfield rider while speeding through. Before that, in another video, the Scorpio driver seems to be talking about something to another rider in the motorcycle group. In the video, we can hear expletives too. However, we are not sure what started the argument on the road.

After a few seconds, the Mahindra Scorpio sped past the group. While overtaking the Royal Enfield rider, the Scorpio’s rear bumper hit a Royal Enfield motorcycle and the rider fell on the road. The rider was wearing the protective gear and received a few minor injuries.

The police said that they have taken cognisance of the matter and are currently investigating the incident. The police have also identified the Scorpio owner and will take suo moto action. The authorities and the police have asked the group of riders to file a written complaint.

Post the complaint, an FIR will be registered at Fatehpur Beri Police Station. Further action will be taken after the FIR.

Road rage can escalate quickly. It is always a good idea to not get involved in road rage and to remain calm on the roads. Road rage is something that can strike anytime and can escalate real quick. It’s critical to have a cool head while driving/riding anywhere, more so on chaotic Indian roads. Here are some tips to ensure that you don’t get into a road rage incident.

Stay within the speed limit, the signal at the appropriate times while changing lanes, use your rear view mirrors and give enough allowance for others’ mistakes or aggressive behaviour.

Still, despite your best attempts at a smooth drive, there can be others who are overly aggressive. Symptoms of such aggressive drivers include excessive honking, tailgating, gesticulating and swearing, weaving between lanes or straddling lanes, and speeding up suddenly and braking sharply. The best thing to do in such situations is to just let such crazy drivers go and hope karma catches up with them – it’s not worth your time and blood pressure trying to teach them a lesson or challenge them. Divert your mind, think of your friends and family perhaps to quickly calm your nerves.
