Maruti Suzuki Jimny review video from India

One of the most anticipated SUVs from India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is Jimny. There has been news about Maruti launching the Jimny in India for years now. Finally, we have started seeing test mules of Jimny from India but, it would be different from what other countries are already getting. We would be getting a 5-door Jimny in India instead of a 3-door. There are many car enthusiasts in India who import exotic cars and bikes via carnet. Here we have a video review of a 3-door Suzuki Jimny that came to India via Carnet.

The video has been uploaded by The Drivers Hub on their YouTube channel. In this video, the anchor does a quick review of the 4×4 SUV. Suzuki Jimny seen here gets Dubai registration plates. The anchor talks about the design, features and practicality of the 3-door Suzuki Jimny. The SUV gets a typical boxy design. It is a successor to the legendary Gypsy SUV which was once sold in India. The rough and tough look of the Jimny might even remind you of G-Wagen from some angles. The round headlamps that are integrated into the bold front grille looks good.

The Jimny comes with ample ground clearance and the front bumper is also designed in a manner that it can handle a fair bit of off-roading. Fog lamps are integrated into it with a lower air dam in it. Coming to the side profile, the Jimny gets squared wheels arches with fender flares. The factory fitted alloy wheels can be seen in the video and there is a lot of space in the wheel well for the wheel to move around without rubbing against the body while off-roading. The tur indicators are placed on the fenders and the doors are very wide.

First video review of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny from India

The boxy design continues at the rear as well. Just like in Gypsy, the tail lamps are installed on the rear bumper. The SUV has a very short wheelbase which would make it a very fun to drive car in off-road sections. The anchor then opens the door and sits in the Jimny. As this is not an Indian-spec version, the steering wheel is on the other side. The car gets a very utilitarian looking cabin with some features like a touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, automatic transmission, hill hold assist and hill descent control.

There is a proper low ratio transfer case in this SUV. The interior in the Jimny is not the most spacious. The large windows in this SUV help a lot in masking the cramped look of the cabin. With the rear seats up, there is literally no space for luggage in the boot. If you fold the rear seats, then it opens up space for luggage but, the car can now seat only 2 people. This is probably the reason why, Maruti is not launching the Jimny in India. For Indian conditions, a 5-door version with longer wheelbase would make more sense but, we hope Maruti does launch the 3-door version for the off-road enthusiasts at least in limited numbers. The Indian version would be powered by a 1.5 litre dualJet engine that generates 105 Ps and 136 Nm of torque. The car will come with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission which would replace the 4-speed automatic transmission in the international Jimny.
