Prices start from Rs. 2.26 lakh

Honda has just launched a brand new street-fighter styled sportsbike in India. Called the CB 300F, the motorcycle is priced at Rs. 2.26 lakh for the Deluxe variant while the Deluxe Pro trim is about Rs. 2,000 pricier, at Rs. 2.29 lakh. The new motorcycle will be sold through Honda BigWing outlets across India, alongside the hot-selling CB 350 range of air cooled retro motorcycles and Honda’s other sportsbikes and superbikes. The CB 300F is meant for everyday commuting and the occasional longer ride out of town. It sits under the Honda CB 300R, which is a liquid cooled, pricier motorcycle that is also more powerful.

The Honda CB 300F is powered by a 293cc four stroke single cylinder engine that gets oil cooling, four valves and a single overhead camshaft. The fuel injected engine puts out about 24 Bhp of peak power and 25.6 Nm of peak torque. While these numbers may not sound like a lot, they’re more than adequate for everyday riding. The CB 300F should comfortably hit 130 Kph, and cruise at over 100 Kph. A six speed manual gearbox comes standard, and so does a slipper clutch. While dual channel ABS is standard, the motorcycle also offers HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control), which is similar to traction control technology.

Key features on the new Honda include upside down front forks, a monoshock rear suspension, alloy wheels stubby exhaust, full LED lighting set-up, a 150 section rear tyre and Smartphone connectivity through the instrument cluster’s Bluetooth system. Notably, the fully digital instrument cluster has five levels of brightness adjustability. The Honda CB 300F is offered in three colours: Matt Axis Grey Metallic, Matt Marvel Blue Metallic and Sports Red. In terms of competition, the Honda CB 300F will be rivaled by the likes of the Bajaj Dominar 250 and 400, the KTM Duke 250 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250.

Honda has been quite aggressive in terms of new motorcycle launches over the past couple of years. The Japanese two wheeler giant is now targeting the premium motorcycle space, which is seeing significant growth in India. The CB 350 and CB 350 RS have been big hits, and Honda is likely to launch more retro-styled motorcycles to take the fight to Royal Enfield – the reigning king of India’s mid-size motorcycle segment. Honda is also working on an electric scooter for the Indian market, with a launch slated for next year.
