This is India’s last Volkswagen Polo delivered to customer

Volkswagen launched the Polo back in 2010, and since then, this compact hatchback from the German car brand remained its most affordable and highest-selling car in India. However, came 2022, Volkswagen decided to pull the plug on the Polo. Volkswagen launched the final edition of the Polo, branded as Polo Legend, a few months ago. The last unit of Volkswagen Polo Legend was recently delivered in Ballabgarh, Harayana, with which the chapter of Polo officially ends in India.

The last unit of the Volkswagen Polo with the Legend kit, finished in a shade of silver, was delivered in Ballabgarh. A video of this car rolling out of the showroom floors was uploaded on YouTube by a channel named ‘Car Blogger’. This Volkswagen Polo gets the Legend kit, which was an official kit introduced by Volkswagen for the last few remaining units of the Polo.

The Legend kit was a dealer-level kit including a few cosmetic bits to enhance the visual appeal of the car. This kit includes a black vinyl wrap for the roof, black garnish on the boot lid, side body decals and ‘Legend’ badges on the front fenders. However, the delivered car seen in the video misses out on side body graphics but gets the rest.

As mentioned in the title of the video, this final unit of the Volkswagen Polo delivered is a mid-spec Comfortline MPI variant. It gets front fog lamps, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a rear roof spoiler with an integrated brake lamp. The cabin is also equipped decently with a 2-DIN audio system, three-spoke tilt-adjustable steering wheel, rear AC vents and automatic climate control.

The Volkswagen Polo had a dream run from 2010 to 2022, however, in its last years, it witnessed a slump in its sales due to the arrival of newer and much better-equipped rivals. On the face of those newer offerings, the Volkswagen Polo began to feel outdated. It also lacked several comfort and convenience features like a push start-stop button, reverse camera and daytime running LEDs even in its top-spec variants.

In its entire life span in India, the Volkswagen Polo received a host of powertrain and transmission options, including the sweet 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. However, at the end of its life cycle, the Polo was sold with a 1.0-liter 75 PS MPI naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-liter 110 PS TSI turbocharged petrol engine. While a 5-speed manual gearbox was offered as standard with both the engine options, the TSI petrol engine was also available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
