When Tata launched the new generation of Safari in the Indian market, it did face some backlash because of not being 4×4 and using a monocoque chassis. However, now the SUV has been well accepted well in our country. The Harrier and Safari are selling in good numbers and giving stiff competition to other SUVs. Here, is a render of the Safari which has been modified.

The render is shared by genxdesigns369 on Instagram. The render only shows us the front of the SUV. . As we can see from the images, the artist has imagined the SUV in two colours. There is neon yellow and red.

We can see some elements of the current Safari in the render but the modification is quite heavy. The headlamps are new but are similar to the current Safari. It does have a projector setup. There are additional fog lamps placed right below the headlamps. There is a black surround all around the headlamps and the bumper is also different. The skid plate is finished in a gunmetal grey.

The upper grille is the same as the stock Safari but gets a black surround now. There are no changes to the LED Daytime Running Lamps. The Tata Motors badge is removed and is replaced with text. The roof is finished in black while the rest of the SUV is finished in a different colour. So, it does come with a dual-tone effect.

The Safari is currently the flagship SUV that Tata Motors built. It was earlier called Gravitas but Tata Motors renamed it Safari before launch. It is essentially a 7-seater version of the Harrier. Both the SUVs are based on the same OMEGARC platform which is basically Land Rover’s D8 platform.

Both the SUVs use the same 2.0-litre Kyrotec diesel engine from Fiat. The engine produces 170 Ps of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The same engine is also used in Jeep Compass, Meridian, MG Hector and Hector Plus.

It has to compete against MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar. Tata Motors is also working on a new petrol engine for the Safari and the Harrier. It will be a 1.5-litre unit that will be turbocharged. The test mules of the Harrier and Safari with a petrol engine have already been spotted. . The power output of the new engine is expected to be somewhere around 160 bhp. Considering the competition the torque output should be around 250 Nm. The same engine will also be used for the upcoming mid-size SUV that will compete against Hyundai Creta.

Tata Motors has already unveiled the concept of the new mid-size SUV. They called it Curvv Concept. It is a new mid-size SUV that has a coupe design. It is based on the same X1 platform as the Nexon compact SUV. But Tata Motors has made some changes to the platform to increase the wheelbase which means there should be more space on offer.
